The Market movers page lists the market movers, the stocks making the day's biggest moves. It has six lists, each on its own tab, followed by the stocks the news is writing about and the instruments people are looking up.

#The lists

Open Movers in the Finance section bar, or select All movers on the overview.

The Market movers page: six tabs for gainers, losers, most active, small-cap gainers, undervalued large caps and growth tech, above a table of stocks, and a card of markets news on the right

Six lists, one tab each. Every row shows the ticker and the company's industry under its name.

Tab What is in it
Gainers U.S. stocks worth $2 billion or more with the biggest gains today (50 rows)
Losers The same size of company, with the biggest losses today (50 rows)
Most active The same size of company, with the most shares traded today (25 rows)
Small-cap gainers U.S. stocks worth under $2 billion that are up 5% or more today
Undervalued large caps Companies worth $10 billion or more that look inexpensive on their numbers, by volume
Growth tech Technology stocks with revenue and earnings growth above 25%

The columns are the price, the change in points and percent, the volume, the market cap, and the range columns that show where the price sits in its day and year. Select any heading to sort. See Sort tables and read the range columns. Select a row to open the stock.

While U.S. markets trade, the lists refresh every few minutes by themselves. Outside trading hours they show the last session, or say that the list fills while U.S. markets trade.

#Below the lists

  • Most mentioned in financial news ranks the companies the news mentions most over the last 24 hours. The bar is each one's share of the coverage, and the badge beside it is the change from the 24 hours before: a +38% means 38% more coverage, and new means it was not mentioned in the period before. See In the news.
  • Trending lists the instruments that people are looking up most right now.

On the right, Markets news gives the day's headlines.

#Movers on the overview

The overview's Market movers card is a shorter version with Gainers, Losers, Most active and Trending. The first three show eight rows each.

Why are the lists limited to larger companies?

Those three lists are defined as U.S. stocks worth $2 billion or more. Smaller companies have their own list, Small-cap gainers.

How often do the lists change?

They are recomputed every few minutes while U.S. markets trade, and the page redraws them for you while it is open.
